Asian Red-eyed Bulbul, Pycnonotus brunneus, is a bulbul in the passerine order, found in the Oriental Region on the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. It was described by Blyth in 1845. Its breeding range covers the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. It is also known as the brown bulbul, red-eyed brown bulbul and red-eyed bulbul. Two subspecies are recognised, with P. b. brunneus occurring across the main range and nearby islands, and P. b. zapolius recorded from the Anambas Islands.
