Leucosticte arctoa (Pallas, 1811)

Asian Rosy Finch, Leucosticte arctoa, is a finch of the Palearctic, breeding in the Altai, eastern Siberia, Mongolia and other scattered northern Asian mountain areas, and moving in winter to Sakhalin, north-east coastal China, the Korean Peninsula and Japan. It lives in barren alpine rocky places, snowfields, tundra and temperate grassland. A stout, dark brown bird, the male usually shows a black face and throat with pink-tinged wings and flanks, while the female is paler and lacks the pink. It is migratory, partly migratory and altitudinal.
