Atitlan Grebe, Podilymbus gigas, was a grebe of Middle America, confined to Lake Atitlan in south-west Guatemala. Griscom described it in 1929. It belonged to the grebe family and the order Podicipediformes. It was flightless and had small wings, with a bill that was large and pied and showed a strong black stripe across the middle. Its appearance and voice matched the pied-billed grebe, though it was much larger. It laid four to five white eggs, and both adults cared for the young.
