Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross

Thalassarche chlororhynchos

The Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross is a medium-sized seabird with a wingspan of approximately 2 meters. It has a distinctive yellowish-green stripe on the upper mandible, which gives it its name. These albatrosses are highly pelagic, spending most of their lives at sea and only returning to land for breeding. They are known for their graceful and effortless flight, using dynamic soaring to cover vast distances over the open ocean. Their diet consists mainly of fish, squid, and crustaceans. Unfortunately, they face threats from fisheries bycatch and habitat degradation, leading to a vulnerable conservation status according to the IUCN Red List.
