Austral Thrush, Turdus falcklandii, is a thrush of the Southern Cone in South America, breeding in Argentina, Chile and the Falkland Islands. It was described by Quoy and Gaimard in 1824. The nominate form is on the Falklands, while T. f. magellanicus occurs on the mainland and nearby islands from central Chile southwards, and also on Juan Fernández Islands. It is a sedentary bird that makes short winter movements. The species has two subspecies, and the sexes share the same plumage.
