Australian Ringneck

Barnardius zonarius

The Australian Ringneck, also known as the Port Lincoln Parrot, is a medium-sized parrot species native to Australia. It is characterized by its vibrant plumage, with a green body, yellow belly, and blue wings. These parrots are highly adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, including woodlands, scrublands, and urban areas. They are known for their playful and social nature, often forming flocks and engaging in noisy interactions. The Australian Ringneck is an omnivorous bird, feeding on seeds, fruits, nectar, and insects. While the species is not currently considered to be globally threatened, habitat loss and competition with introduced species pose localized threats to its populations.
