Australian Shelduck
Tadorna tadornoides (Jardine & Selby, 1828)

Australian Shelduck, Tadorna tadornoides, is a duck in the Anatidae family and the order Anseriformes. It breeds in southern Australia, apart from the central part, and in Tasmania. Also called the chestnut-breasted shelduck or mountain duck, it is a large goose-like duck. The species was described in 1828 by William Jardine and Prideaux John Selby. It is protected under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974. Its usual habitat is lakes in open country, and it is still fairly common.
