Azores Chaffinch, Fringilla moreletti, is a finch of the Azores in the north-western Macaronesia region, where it breeds on all the main islands. It was described by Pucheran in 1859 and belongs to the order Passeriformes and the family Fringillidae. It is endemic to the Portuguese archipelago and occurs from sea level up into the mountainous interior, including the highest parts of Pico. It is one of the most familiar birds in the islands. It is set apart from the Eurasian Chaffinch by genetic, structural and vocal differences, and by its longer, sturdier bill.
