Azure-breasted Pitta, Pitta steerii, is a bird of the eastern and southern Philippines, breeding in Mindanao, Bohol, Leyte and Samar. It belongs to the pittas and lives in tropical moist lowland forest, especially where the understorey is thick and limestone outcrops are present. It is known for its vivid plumage, with red, azure, green, black and white among its colours. Two forms are recognised, with the Mindanao bird darker and greener, and the Bohol, Leyte and Samar birds paler. Its range is under pressure from forest loss.
