Azure-crested Flycatcher

Myiagra azureocapilla

The Azure-crested Flycatcher (Myiagra azureocapilla) is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of New Guinea and nearby islands. It is known for its striking azure-blue crest and upperparts, contrasting with a white throat and underparts. This flycatcher is an active and agile bird, often observed perching in the mid-story of the forest, sallying out to catch flying insects. Its melodious and varied song can often be heard echoing through the forest. The Azure-crested Flycatcher is generally considered to be of least concern in terms of conservation status, as it has a wide distribution and is not currently facing major threats.
