Azure-rumped Tanager, Poecilostreptus cabanisi, is a bird of middle America, breeding in southern Mexico and Guatemala. It belongs to the tanager family and was described by Sclater in 1868. In Guatemala and the Mexican state of Chiapas it is tied to humid broadleaf forest and nearby plantations on the Pacific side. Records place it between 850 and 1,900 m. Its plumage is mainly pale blue, with a purplish-blue crown, dark facial markings and chest spots, plus black wings and tail edged in blue.
