Peucaea aestivalis

Bachman's Sparrow is a small, secretive bird found in the southeastern United States. It is known for its distinctive song, which is often heard in open pine forests and shrubby areas. This species is primarily ground-dwelling, foraging for insects and seeds in the understory. The plumage of Bachman's Sparrow is predominantly brown and streaked, providing excellent camouflage in its preferred habitat. It is a non-migratory species, with populations facing threats from habitat loss and fragmentation. Conservation efforts are focused on preserving and restoring suitable pine savanna and woodland habitats for this species.
