Bachman's Warbler

Vermivora bachmanii

Bachman's Warbler (Vermivora bachmanii) is a small, elusive songbird found in the southeastern United States. This species is known for its striking yellow-green plumage and distinctive black facial markings. Bachman's Warblers inhabit mature bottomland hardwood forests and cypress swamps, where they forage for insects and spiders in the understory and dense vegetation. Unfortunately, this species is considered critically endangered, with only a few confirmed sightings in recent years. Threats to their survival include habitat loss and degradation due to logging and land development. Conservation efforts are underway to protect and restore suitable habitat for Bachman's Warblers.
