Baird's Flycatcher

Myiodynastes bairdii

Baird's Flycatcher (Myiodynastes bairdii) is a medium-sized passerine bird found in Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive olive-green plumage, a yellow belly, and a bold white eye-ring. This flycatcher is often observed perching in open woodlands, forest edges, and second growth habitats, where it actively hunts for insects by sallying out from a perch and returning to the same or nearby perch. Its melodious song and aerial acrobatics during courtship displays are a treat for birdwatchers. Although not globally threatened, habitat loss and deforestation pose localized threats to this species.
