Pyrilia aurantiocephala (Gaban-Lima, Raposo, M & Höfling, 2002)
Bald Parrot, Pyrilia aurantiocephala, is a parrot of south-central Brazil in the Psittacidae family. It breeds in humid tropical lowland forest in the east-central Amazon, including the Lower River Madeira, Upper River Tapajós and River Teles Pires areas. Its most notable feature is the bare head, which is orange-brown and gives the bird its name. It was first described in 2002 after being recognised as a distinct species. It is a rare bird of its native range, and deforestation is affecting the habitat it depends on.
