Baliem Whistler

Baliem Whistler, Pachycephala balim, is a passerine in the whistler family, breeding in montane western New Guinea. It was described by Rand in 1940. The bird is restricted to the Snow Mountains of Papua Province in Indonesia. It was once treated as part of the Australian golden whistler, and also linked with the mangrove golden whistler and the yellow-throated whistler. The IOC recognised it as a separate species in 2016, although some other authorities have not accepted that change.
