Chaetura spinicaudus (Temminck, 1839)

Band-rumped Swift, Chaetura spinicaudus, is a swift of Middle and South America, breeding from Panama to central Brazil. It belongs to the Apodidae family and was described by Temminck in 1839. In its range it is tied to the edges of lowland evergreen forest and secondary growth, and in Amazonia it also uses highland forest and cleared land. The species has a white rump band, with dark upperparts and underparts, and the sexes look the same. A separate form occurs from central Panama to south-western Ecuador.
