Penelope argyrotis (Bonaparte, 1856)

Band-tailed Guan, Penelope argyrotis, is a bird of the Cracidae family that breeds in Colombia and Venezuela. It was described by Bonaparte in 1856. It is a South American guan with a wide chestnut band at the end of the tail, which gives the species its name. The nominate form has dark upperparts marked with white streaks, an olive-brown breast, a paler belly, and a pale grey to white face with a red dewlap. Other forms differ in tail tips and in the amount of white on the head and face.
