Band-tailed Hornero, Furnarius figulus, is a passerine of the ovenbird family that breeds in se Amazonia and e Brazil. It is a Brazilian bird with two subspecies, each occupying a separate part of the country. The nominate form occurs in the east, while F. f. pileatus is tied to the Amazon basin and nearby river systems. It is a small hornero with a long, almost straight bill, and the two sexes look the same. The nominate bird shows a pale eyebrow, chestnut-rufous upperparts and a tail marked with dark tips, while pileatus is darker on the head and tail.
