Band-tailed Seedeater, Catamenia analis, is a bird of the Thraupidae family found in South America from Colombia to northern Chile. It also occurs in Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. Its breeding range runs through this part of the continent. It is associated with subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland and with heavily degraded former forest. The species was described by d'Orbigny and Lafresnaye in 1837.
