Banda Myzomela

Myzomela boiei (Müller, S, 1843)

Banda Myzomela, Myzomela boiei, is a honeyeater of the Banda, Babar and Tanimbar islands in the southern Moluccas and the far eastern Lesser Sundas. It breeds in Australasia on Babar and in the southern Moluccas. The male has a red head, neck, upper breast and mantle, with black wings and eye ring, while the female is mainly brown with orange below the bill. The recognised form on the Tanimbar Islands differs from the Banda birds in the male’s chest colour. It uses lowland, mangrove and montane forest.
