Banded Broadbill

Eurylaimus javanicus

The Banded Broadbill (Eurylaimus javanicus) is a striking bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its vibrant plumage, with a black head, bright green back, and distinctive blue and black banding on its underparts. This small to medium-sized bird is known for its unique vocalizations and agile foraging behavior. Banded Broadbills primarily feed on insects and small invertebrates, often catching them in mid-air with swift and precise movements. They are typically found in dense, tropical lowland forests and are known for their acrobatic flight patterns. Despite their striking appearance, Banded Broadbills can be elusive due to their preference for dense foliage and can be challenging to spot in the wild.
