Banded Ground Cuckoo, Neomorphus radiolosus, is a cuckoo of the forests of south-west Colombia and north-west Ecuador. It lives in the Chocó region on the Pacific side of the Andes, where it is tied to wet tropical primary forest. The species is a year-round resident and is almost entirely ground-dwelling, though it can take to trees to avoid danger or to roost. It is notable for its heavy, downcurved bill and for the shaggy erectile crest shown by adults. Juveniles differ in having a mostly ochre-scaled pattern and a blackish crest without blue.
