The Banded Quail, or Philortyx fasciatus, is a small ground-dwelling bird native to Mexico and the southwestern United States. This species is characterized by its intricate vocalizations, often heard during the breeding season. Banded Quails are monogamous and form small family groups, with the male taking an active role in caring for the young. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to their populations.
