Banded Wren

Thryophilus pleurostictus

The Banded Wren (Thryophilus pleurostictus) is a small, lively bird found in the tropical and subtropical forests of Central and South America. This wren is known for its distinctive black and white banding pattern on its wings and tail, with a brownish-gray body. It is a vocal and active species, often seen foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the dense undergrowth. Banded Wrens are known for their complex and melodious songs, which they use to communicate and defend their territories. They typically build dome-shaped nests in low vegetation, where they raise their young. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to their populations.
