Bank Myna

Acridotheres ginginianus (Latham, 1790)

Bank Myna, Acridotheres ginginianus, is a starling of the Oriental Region, breeding in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. It is found across the northern parts of South Asia and is often seen on the plains of northern and central India, including towns and cities. Its most distinctive feature is the brick-red bare skin behind the eyes, which sets it apart from the common myna. It also has a slightly grey underside and a small tuft of feathers. It nests almost entirely in earthen river banks, where it digs burrows and breeds in large colonies.
