Bar-tailed Cuckoo-Dove, Macropygia nigrirostris, is a bird of the Columbidae family found in Australasia, including Yapen, New Guinea, Karkar, Goodenough and Fergusson, and the eastern Bismarck Archipelago. It was described by Salvadori in 1876. It is marked by a short black bill, black-barred central tail feathers, and a chestnut-brown plumage. The male is ruddy brown, while the female shows black-barred upperparts. The juvenile resembles the female, but its tail is irregularly barred. It lives in old-growth, edge and secondary forests, and also in submontane forest.
