Barau's Petrel (Pterodroma baraui) is a medium-sized seabird that belongs to the Procellariidae family. It has a dark grey-brown plumage with a white belly and underwings. This species is known for its long, slender wings and its graceful, gliding flight over the open ocean. Barau's Petrels are pelagic birds, spending most of their lives at sea, only returning to land to breed. They are skilled foragers, feeding on fish, squid, and crustaceans. Breeding colonies are found on remote islands and cliffs, where they nest in burrows or crevices. Threats to this species include predation by invasive species and habitat degradation.
