Barn Owl

Tyto alba

The Barn Owl (Tyto alba) is a distinctive and widespread nocturnal bird of prey, known for its heart-shaped face and ghostly appearance. It has a pale, mottled plumage, with a white underside and golden-buff upperparts. Barn Owls are efficient hunters, relying on their exceptional hearing and silent flight to catch small mammals such as mice and voles. They are often found in open habitats such as farmland, grasslands, and marshes, nesting in cavities in trees, barns, or abandoned buildings. Due to habitat loss and human disturbance, Barn Owls are facing conservation challenges in some regions.
