Tinamidae — Tinamous

Barred Tinamou, Crypturellus casiquiare, is a tinamou in the family Tinamidae. It occurs in South America, where its breeding range includes eastern Colombia and southern Venezuela. The species lives in tropical and subtropical lowland forest, and the reference also places it in moist forest in the north of the continent. It is a monotypic species. Tinamous are ratites, but unlike other ratites they can fly, though they are not strong fliers. The name Crypturellus comes from words meaning hidden tail.
