The Bay-vented Plumeleteer is a species of bird found in the highland forests of Costa Rica and western Panama. It is known for its distinctive long, decurved bill and striking plumage. The upperparts are predominantly olive-green, with a rufous crown and white throat. The underparts are cinnamon-colored, and the vent area is bay-colored, giving the bird its name. This species primarily feeds on nectar, insects, and spiders. It is often observed foraging in the understory and lower canopy of montane forests. The Bay-vented Plumeleteer is known for its energetic and agile flight, often darting between flowers and foliage in search of food.
