The males are known for their bright yellow breeding plumage and their elaborate courtship displays. The Baya Weaver feeds on seeds and insects, foraging in open grasslands, agricultural areas, and wetlands. This species is highly social and often found in flocks. The Baya Weaver is not currently considered to be at risk of extinction, although habitat loss and changes in land use patterns may pose future threats to its populations.
