Panurus biarmicus
The Bearded Reedling, also known as the Bearded Tit, is a small, sexually dimorphic bird found in reedbeds and marshes across Europe and Asia. The male sports a distinctive moustache-like black marking on its face, while the female has a more subtle and brownish appearance. These birds are known for their distinctive 'ping' calls and can often be seen clinging to reed stems or feeding on seeds. They build their nests low in the reeds and are well adapted to their wetland habitat. Bearded Reedlings are primarily seed-eaters, feeding on a variety of grass and sedge seeds. They are known for their acrobatic displays during courtship and are a delight to observe in their natural habitat.
