Beautiful Jay, Cyanolyca pulchra, is a bird of the crow and jay family found in Colombia, Ecuador and northern Peru. It lives in humid montane forest and cloud forest, and also occurs near clearings and in secondary forest, though it is less often seen there. It is linked with watercourses and marshy places within forest. The species is monotypic, with no subspecies. It is closely allied to the azure-hooded jay. The name pulchra comes from Latin and means beautiful. It is uncommon, tied to primary forest, sensitive to disturbance, and becoming rare because of habitat loss.
