Beccari's Scops Owl

Otus beccarii

Beccari's Scops Owl (Otus beccarii) is a small owl species found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive heart-shaped facial disk and prominent ear tufts. These nocturnal birds are skilled hunters, preying on insects, small mammals, and birds. Their haunting hoots can often be heard echoing through the dense foliage at night. Beccari's Scops Owls are generally solitary and territorial, nesting in tree cavities or abandoned nests of other birds. They are vulnerable to habitat loss and fragmentation due to deforestation and human encroachment.
