Belcher's Gull

Leucophaeus scoresbii

Belcher's Gull (Leucophaeus scoresbii) is a medium-sized gull found along the coasts of South America, particularly in Chile and Peru. It has a white head and body, with a gray back and wings. The bill is yellow with a red spot near the tip. Belcher's Gulls are opportunistic feeders, consuming fish, invertebrates, and scavenging for food in coastal areas. They nest in colonies on rocky cliffs and islands, often in close proximity to other seabird species. Due to habitat destruction and disturbance, the conservation status of Belcher's Gull is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
