Belcher's Gull

Larus belcheri

Belcher's Gull (Larus belcheri) is a medium-sized gull found along the coasts of South America, particularly in Peru and northern Chile. It has a white body, with a gray back and wings, and a distinctive black ring around its eyes. Belcher's Gulls are opportunistic feeders, often scavenging for food along shorelines and in coastal towns. They are known for their raucous calls and agile flight. These gulls nest on rocky cliffs and islands, and their populations are vulnerable to disturbance and habitat loss. Conservation efforts are focused on protecting their breeding sites and minimizing human disturbance.
