Belford's Melidectes, Melidectes belfordi, is a honeyeater of montane western to south-eastern New Guinea. It is part of the family Meliphagidae and occurs in the New Guinea Highlands. Its natural home is moist montane forest in subtropical or tropical conditions. The bird’s name honours George Belford, whose collecting work supplied natural history material for Sir William McGregor in the late nineteenth century. It was described by De Vis in 1890.
