Bell Miner

Manorina melanophrys

The Bell Miner, also known as the Bellbird, is a medium-sized honeyeater endemic to eastern Australia. It is known for its distinctive bell-like call and close association with eucalypt forests. These birds are highly social and often form large, noisy colonies. They primarily feed on nectar, fruit, and insects, and play a significant role in the pollination of flowering plants. The Bell Miner's aggressive defense of its territory has been linked to the phenomenon of 'bellbird dieback' in some eucalypt forests.
