Beryl-spangled Tanager, Tangara nigroviridis, is a passerine of the northern Andes in South America, with a breeding range from Venezuela to Bolivia. It was first described by Lafresnaye in 1843 and belongs to the tanager family, Thraupidae. It is found on the eastern Andean slopes, where it occurs in humid montane forest and second growth. Its plumage is mainly turquoise, patterned with black spots and scaling, while the breast and belly are mostly black with greenish opalescent markings.
