Tachyspiza virgata (Temminck, 1822)

Besra, Tachyspiza virgata, is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family and a widespread breeder in the Oriental Region. It lives across southern Asia in dense forest, from the Indian subcontinent through Southeast Asia to East Asia. It is a resident species and nests in trees, making a fresh nest each year. It is a medium-sized raptor with short broad wings and a long tail, suited to quick turns through thick cover. In winter it also uses more open woodland, including savannah and cultivated land. It was described by Temminck in 1822.
