Biak Scops Owl

Biak Scops Owl, Otus beccarii, is an owl of Australasia found on Biak in the Geelvink Bay islands of north-west New Guinea. It was described by Salvadori in 1876. This bird is restricted to that island area and is part of the family Strigidae. It is rarely seen, and very little has been recorded about its breeding. It uses forest edges and forest interior, and it may also occur close to villages. The species has dark brown and rufous forms, long ear-tufts and a pale facial disc.
