Bicolored Hawk, Astur bicolor, breeds from southern Mexico through Middle America and across South America to northern Argentina. It is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family and was described by Vieillot in 1817. It lives in forest, woodland, second growth, plantations and wooded savanna, and is most often found in tropical and locally subtropical areas. It is widespread but not often seen, and is the most frequently encountered Astur across much of its range. It does not occur above 2,700 metres.
