Bismarck Honeyeater

The Bismarck Honeyeater (Melidectes torquatus) is a medium-sized bird native to the Bismarck Archipelago in the South Pacific. It is known for its striking black and yellow plumage, with a distinctive white crescent-shaped patch on its chest. This species is primarily nectarivorous, feeding on the nectar of various flowering plants, and also consumes insects and small fruits. It inhabits lowland and montane rainforests, where it can be found foraging in the canopy and understory. The Bismarck Honeyeater is known for its melodious calls and complex vocalizations, often engaging in duets with its mate.
