Bismarck Pitta, Erythropitta novaehibernicae, is a pitta of the Bismarck Archipelago in Papua New Guinea, breeding in the New Ireland and New Britain groups. It lives in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. The bird was first described in 1878 by Edward Pierson Ramsay from a specimen taken on New Ireland. It is now placed in Erythropitta, and four subspecies are recognised: novaehibernicae, extima, splendida and gazellae. It was once treated as the same species as the red-bellied pitta.
