Black-and-white Manakin

Seleucidis melanoleucus

The Black-and-white Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the humid forests of South America. This species is known for its striking black and white plumage, with the male having a glossy black body and white underparts, while the female has a more muted plumage. These birds are known for their unique courtship displays, where males gather in leks to perform coordinated dances to attract females. They feed on fruits and insects and are often found in the lower levels of the forest. The Black-and-white Manakin is not currently considered to be at risk, but deforestation and habitat loss are potential threats to its future.
