Pogonornis melanopterus
The Black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher, scientifically known as Pogonornis melanopterus, is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of Sub-Saharan Africa. This bird is known for its striking black and white plumage, with a distinctive black mask around its eyes. It has a slender, pointed bill and a relatively long tail. The Black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher is an agile and active bird, often seen perching in the mid to upper levels of trees, where it hunts for insects and small invertebrates. Its melodious song can often be heard echoing through the forest. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and deforestation pose potential risks to its populations.
