Black-and-yellow Grosbeak

Mycerobas affinis

The Black-and-yellow Grosbeak, scientifically known as Mycerobas affinis, is a striking bird found in the Himalayan region of South Asia. It is characterized by its black head, bright yellow underparts, and a distinct white patch on the wings. This species is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard in the dense forests where it resides. The Black-and-yellow Grosbeak primarily feeds on seeds and insects, using its strong, conical beak to crack open seeds. It is a shy and elusive bird, often found in small groups or pairs. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the population of this species is declining.
