The Black-backed Swamphen, scientifically known as Ramsayornis modestus, is a striking waterbird found in Australia and New Guinea. The Black-backed Swamphen is a medium-sized bird, typically measuring around 35-40 cm in length. While their populations are currently stable, they face threats from habitat loss and degradation. As a result, their conservation status is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.
