Black-backed Tanager, Stilpnia peruviana, is a passerine in the tanager family and breeds in south-eastern Brazil. It is found in forests and shrubland there, and its scientific name reflects an old error that linked it with Peru. Described by Desmarest in 1806, it is closely allied to the Chestnut-backed Tanager, and the two have at times been treated as the same species. Its range is limited to south-eastern Brazil, and it is affected by habitat loss.
